16 April 2013 traveling from Chennai to Ahmedabad

I set out the clothes ready the night before ...

We left Hotel Mars Deluxe and got to Chennai airport early. The new domestic terminal is quite impressive.

From here we flew to Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Once we arrived we quickly found our driver; he was holding a sign stating "Welcome to Monique Stone". It soon became apparent however that the driver thought he was only dropping us straight to our accommodation because he took offence to our "full program" (itinerary) and many phone calls to his boss followed. At the accommodation the guy who set up Dave's Airtel for the mobile was able to speak to our travel agent (in another state; we used them last time). Apparently our itinerary was never received eventhough from the same email I had received the account which I already paid!! We wasted a lot of time sorting this all out so were not able to do the things on our "program". Thankfully once the issue was sorted out, the driver was willing to take us out for a short time at night.

We first went to IM natural pani puri wala. Pani puri is crisp wheat shells filled with vegetarian ingredients like potatoes and peas over which is ladled a watery mint sauce. The combinations can be savoury or sweet. It is the pani component that can be dangerous to your health if local water is used. At this place only bottled water is used. It was so tasty David and I had about 30 each!! We found this place on a website called burrp.com

We also bought some sweets there ...

After this we went to Asharfi kulfi for some really good icecream. This place was reviewed and recommended by Highway on my plate (We watched on Youtube and I have the book). The kids had already eaten bread and noodles at the hotel. They enjoyed their icecream dessert very much!!
