We had a late start today with breakfast at 10am. Jemma had an omelette cooked for her with no spice, the other kids had cornflakes and we ate aloo parathas (potato filled parathas) and some lovely rice. We arranged with the hotel to keep our bags until we needed to board the train. We took an autorickshaw into town. Airtel told Dave he had no credit on his phone despite paying for it in Ahmedabad. He arranged unlimited internet for one month for the equivalent of $4!!!
Back at the hotel 2 coolies (porters) carried our bags to the train platform. One returned later to put our bags on the train as well.
We took a train to Valsad, a 3 hour journey. We had tickets in AC Class 3. During the day 6 people sit in a section, 3 a side. At night a bench folds down so there are 6 beds.
In Valsad we were told no taxis so we piled ourselves, 2 hiking backpacks, 2 small rolling cases and 4 small child backpacks into an auto rickshaw for the 10 minute journey to the hotel. Once there we decided to go to the hotel's restaurant which was basically tables and chairs set up outside. As it was now well and truly night time we sat eating alone in almost complete darkness bar a few lights hanging between trees...
