23 April 2013 Pendra Road - picnic in the hills, a waterfall and lots of monkeys at Amarkantak

In the early afternoon we all (14 of us) set off in the car and a hired jeep. We had a picnic lunch in the hills.and then saw a water fall.

Some falls further up the hill ...

near the car ..

At the top of the hills we stopped at a village called Amarkantak. This place is sacred to the Jain because it is where the river originates. We saw a lot of monkeys. I was especially fascinated by the mothers carrying and feeding their young.

they look like they are riding a bus ha ha ha

During the day we had several times of just singing songs with Domenic including the two Hindi songs that I had learned. David showed him how to play Pastor Graham's upbeat version of Amazing Grace and the worship song "Holy Spirit Reign down". His niece took a video so Domenic can remember the chords. At night time after dinner we had a time of singing and bible reading together.

Thursday we will meet the parents and be reunited with (sister-in-law) Vijayata who we met in Bangalore during our last trip and who now has a 4 month old son. Daniel is not able to meet with us this time due to his work commitments.
